Responsibilities
BAA is administratively, legally and financially responsible for the implementation of the Equalisation of Burdens Act of the Federal Republic of Germany in order to address burdens accrued as a consequence of World War II.
Organisation
Since the entry into force of the Act to Amend the Organisation of the Federal Equalisation of Burdens Office on 13 March 2008, the Federal Equalisation of Burdens Office and the Federal Office for Central Services and Unresolved Property Issues (BADV) have shared a joint administration, with the BADV being responsible for the internal administration of the BAA. The president of the BADV, Florian Scheurle, is also the president of the BAA.
